About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Corrections Reform Group (CRG) is a distinguished Business Transformation Consulting Agency focused on facilitating meaningful change from within. Drawing inspiration from the transformative journey of a caterpillar into a butterfly, we are dedicated to unlocking the vast potential of individuals and organizations alike. Our mission is to support clients in their pursuit of renewal and the achievement of new heights. With a comprehensive understanding of the complexities associated with driving positive change, CRG is committed to delivering effective strategies that ensure lasting transformation.

Our Story

History of Inception

CRG emerged from a clear recognition: many individuals, organizations, and agencies set out with the best intentions to create positive change but often fall short of their goals. This shortfall is not due to a lack of effort or desire, but rather the complexity of the challenges they face and the inadequate methods they often deploy. Whether it’s a lack of understanding about the deep-rooted issues involved or an ineffective approach to addressing them, many are unable to reach the level of impact they aspire to achieve.

Founded in July 2024, CRG was created as a solution to this problem. Our mission is to guide individuals, agencies, and organizations through transformative processes grounded in modern public health research and practical experience. By offering scientifically validated strategies and personalized support, CRG helps clients navigate the complexities of change, ensuring they reach their goals with greater precision and effectiveness. From personal development to organizational reform, we provide systems tailored to address challenges in areas such as career growth, financial stability, wellness, and relationships.

Our Core Values

We are committed to reaching individuals from all walks of life, including those within marginalized communities and correctional institutional spaces. Our approach is comprehensive, addressing both the internal and external environments of those we serve.

We value the capacity to achieve transformation from the inside out. This means we are dedicated to helping individuals within correctional institutions as well as those outside of them. We aim to offer services to entities working with incarcerated individuals, such as the Department of Corrections (DOC) training academy, and the Legal Aid Society ensuring that our consulting services contribute to meaningful reform within these systems.

We also recognize the complex landscape surrounding incarceration, where differing viewpoints create tension. Abolitionists seek to dismantle the prison system entirely, reformers strive to improve the current system, and pro-prison advocates support incarceration as a necessary tool for punishment. While CRG does not engage in pro-prison efforts, we align our values with community-based solutions that address crime through rehabilitation and by tackling its root causes. We believe in reducing reliance on incarceration and improving conditions in correctional spaces in the interim.

Our Core Values Breakdown

Corrections Reform Group (CRG) offers a distinct approach to transformation grounded in three core values: correcting cognitive defects, reforming perspectives, and achieving personal transformation. These values guide our consulting efforts with a range of clients, including cadet correction officers, parole advocates, their clients, and individuals from all walks of life seeking to achieve personal growth.

1. Correcting Cognitive Defects

Definition: Cognitive defects are thought patterns or mental processes that limit one’s ability to perceive, understand, or approach challenges effectively. Correcting these defects allows individuals to overcome mental barriers, enabling clearer thinking, better decision-making, and positive change.

• Cadet Correction Officers: For correctional cadets, cognitive defects may manifest as biases, rigid thinking, or misunderstanding of the populations they serve. We equip them with training that fosters empathy, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence, enhancing their ability to handle conflict and understand the complex environments within correctional facilities.

• Parole Advocates and Their Clients: Parole advocates often work with individuals whose thinking patterns have been shaped by years of confinement. By focusing on cognitive correction, we help advocates better support their clients in reshaping their outlooks, developing positive mindsets, and reorienting their thinking toward successful reintegration and community involvement.

• Individuals Seeking Transformation: For the average citizen striving to become a better version of themselves, correcting cognitive defects involves identifying unproductive thought patterns, self-limiting beliefs, or ingrained habits. CRG offers personalized strategies to replace these with healthier, more constructive ways of thinking, empowering individuals to make better life decisions and achieve their goals.

2. Reforming Perspectives

Definition: Reforming perspectives means shifting the way individuals see themselves, their environment, and their potential. By broadening viewpoints and reframing challenges, clients are better positioned to embrace new opportunities and navigate complexities.

• Cadet Correction Officers: Reforming perspectives for cadet correction officers is crucial for fostering understanding between themselves and the incarcerated individuals they manage. We help cadets adopt a more holistic view of their role—not just as enforcers of rules, but as facilitators of rehabilitation and growth. This shift in perspective promotes a more positive and humane approach to their work.

• Parole Advocates and Their Clients: Parole advocates, in their efforts to aid individuals transitioning from correctional systems, must often challenge societal and institutional perspectives. CRG trains advocates to not only reform their own perspectives but also to help their clients reshape how they view themselves in relation to society—moving from a mindset of limitation and stigma to one of possibility and empowerment.

• Individuals Seeking Transformation: For average citizens, reforming perspectives may involve viewing personal challenges as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. Whether it’s in career, relationships, or personal development, CRG provides tools for shifting perspectives to unlock new pathways and foster greater self-awareness.

3. Personal Transformation

Definition: Personal transformation is the process of deep, sustainable change in behavior, habits, and identity. It is the culmination of correcting cognitive defects and reforming perspectives, resulting in meaningful, lasting growth.

• Cadet Correction Officers: For cadet correction officers, personal transformation is about evolving from individuals who merely enforce order to professionals who contribute to a rehabilitative justice system. CRG guides them through this journey, enabling them to align their work with broader reform efforts while achieving personal and professional growth.

• Parole Advocates and Their Clients: For parole advocates and their clients, personal transformation represents the ultimate goal: the reinvention of a life. Through tailored programs, we support advocates in creating strategies that foster long-term transformation for their clients, helping them to build new lives founded on stability, purpose, and community integration.

• Individuals Seeking Transformation: For citizens looking to transform, CRG offers personalized consulting that supports their journey toward self-actualization. Whether it’s through career shifts, personal relationship development, or achieving life goals, we help individuals lay the foundation for transformative, sustainable change in all areas of life.

Through the lens of these three core values, CRG provides clients with the tools and insights needed to navigate complex environments and achieve lasting success—whether they are correctional officers, parole advocates, or individuals looking to unlock their full potential.

About

My name is Jesse James Woodberry

I have spent over 20 years teaching youth facing mental challenges and mainstream young people how to build self-confidence and understand the fundamentals of life. My focus has always been on the importance of effective communication, helping them realize how vital it is in their personal and professional lives.

My approach emphasizes one-on-one mentorship, fostering a sense of self-worth in each young person I work with. I am dedicated to helping youth discover careers that bring them true happiness and fulfillment.

My experience includes working in organizations that align with my passion for helping young people. I have served at the Blueberry Treatment Center, supporting emotionally challenged children, and have collaborated with the Salvation Army to assist troubled youth. Additionally, I have worked with Urban Strategic across the tri-state area of New York as a counselor and mentor. I am Jessie James Woodberry, and I am 63 years old. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and I attended Boy's High School. Growing up in a single-parent household with my mother and four siblings, I learned the value of resilience and community support. I have been happily married for 31 years and am a proud father of eight children.

My mission is simple: to reach one and teach one. I have achieved significant success in business, largely due to the respect I have earned from others, which has fostered an open mindset. I often reflect on a saying: "Does it look better from the outside looking in, or from the inside looking out?" This perspective reminds me of the importance of embracing opportunities that allow me to be my authentic self. Through my work, I aim to empower the next generation, helping them navigate their challenges and achieve their dreams.
